m a demand de contribuer au pr sent ouvrage, je me suis senti la fois honor et plein d humilit Lorsqu elle m en a expliqu le sujet, j ai t rempli d enthousiasme Avec plus de vingt quatre ans de pratique clinique mon actif, je poss de mon lot d histoires de psoas et ai bien conscience de l importance de ce muscle souvent n glig Cependant, apr s avoir lu ce livre, j ai ressenti nouveau les limites de mes connaissances sur la dimension holistique du psoas tant engag dans une pratique clinique quotidienne, j appr cie tout particuli rement les cours et les livres qui ont un impact profond sur ma pens e et influencent la mani re dont je traite mes patients le lundi matin Le Psoas, muscle vital en fait clairement partie Le Psoas, muscle vital est en quelque sorte le livre id al pour un g ographe, puisqu il n y est question que de localisation, de localisation, et encore de localisation Du fait de sa localisation, le psoas a l honneur d tre le seul muscle reliant la partie sup rieure du corps la partie inf rieure Par cons quent, l ventail de ses fonctions est vaste, depuis son r le moteur majeur dans certains mouvements jusqu celui, crucial, de stabilisateur dans des mouvements entra n s par d autres muscles Ainsi, qu il s agisse d un mouvement engageant surtout la partie basse du corps, tel que la marche, ou d un mouvement concernant surtout la partie haute, par exemple le geste de lancer une balle, ou encore celui de lever les bras pour attraper quelque chose dans un placard, le psoas est actif Beaucoup de praticiens voient essentiellement dans le psoas un fl chisseur de la hanche Cependant, quoique connaissant ses attaches proximales au niveau de la colonne lombaire et ses nombreuses relations par l interm diaire des fascias, ils sous estiment souvent sa fonction stabilisatrice, de m me que sa capacit influencer profond ment la posture de quelqu un La localisation du psoas lui offre galement la possibilit d exercer une influence sur la circulation sanguine, du fait de sa proximit anatomique avec certaines structures vasculaires, en particulier l aorte, l art re iliaque externe et le prolongement de cette derni re dans l art re f morale, travers la complexe r gion ilio inguinale Le psoas se trouve au carrefour de tout un r seau de fascias soutenant de nombreuses structures et organes visc raux Ces m mes organes peuvent tre stimul s et mass s par des contractions du psoas, qui a donc une influence sur la digestion, l excr tion limination, la d toxification et m me le processus de reproduction Il influence encore la respiration du fait de sa relation anatomique avec le diaphragme dans la zone du plexus solaire, et jusqu la circulation de l nergie dans l ensemble du corps, de par sa proximit avec les trois premiers chakras de la philosophie du yoga Jo Ann a vraiment fait un beau travail en montrant l importance du psoas dans des ph nom nes tels que la communication visc rale , la m moire somatique , ou encore la composante
